University of Redlands Names Nikki Ayers as New Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics

REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands is excited to announce the appointment of Nikki Ayers as its new Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics. With an extensive background in athletic administration and a deep commitment to fostering student-athletes' academic and personal growth, Ayers brings a wealth of experience to the position. Her appointment marks a new chapter for the University of Redlands' athletics program, as it strives for continued excellence both on the field and in the classroom.
Ayers will oversee the University's athletic department, which encompasses 22 NCAA Division III sports, and will play a key role in shaping the strategic direction for the Bulldogs' athletic programs. Her responsibilities will include developing and implementing strategies to enhance student-athlete experiences, ensuring academic success, and supporting the overall growth and development of the athletics program.
"I am honored and excited to join the University of Redlands community," said Ayers. "Redlands has a rich history of success, both athletically and academically, and I am eager to work alongside the coaches, staff, and student-athletes to build upon that legacy. My goal is to continue creating an environment where student-athletes are able to thrive, not only in competition but also in their personal and academic lives."
Ayers comes to Redlands after serving as the Director of Athletics at Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, where she played an integral role in shaping the athletic department's future. Prior to her tenure at Juniata, Ayers held leadership positions at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges (CMS), where she was instrumental in leading the program to four NCAA women's national championships. Her expertise in athletic administration, as well as her ability to build strong relationships with faculty, staff, coaches, and student-athletes, has earned her a stellar reputation in collegiate athletics.
"This marks an exciting new chapter for Bulldog Athletics as we welcome a leader with a deep passion for student-athlete success, a strategic vision for the future, and a remarkable track record in collegiate athletics," said University of Redlands President Krista Newkirk. "Her enthusiasm, expertise, and commitment to the holistic development of student-athletes will ensure that Bulldog Athletics continues to thrive."
Ayers holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Juniata College, where she was a standout student-athlete herself. She has continued her professional development through various leadership and athletic administration programs and initiatives. Her approach to leadership emphasizes a balance between rigorous competition, academic success, and the overall well-being of student-athletes.
As she embarks on this new journey at the University of Redlands, Ayers looks forward to engaging with students, faculty, staff, and alumni to enhance the sense of community and school spirit that defines the University of Redlands. Under her leadership, Redlands athletics is poised for continued success in fostering well-rounded student-athletes who are prepared for the challenges of both their academic and athletic careers.
