Career Management: When and How to Transition Jobs During a Pandemic

Description: Panelists will discuss how to keep your job search on track whether you were already in the process of seeking employment, or as a result of a current layoff or furlough.  Experts in human resources, leadership development, diversity and recruitment will provide tips on how to productively leverage the current employment market.  You will also learn how to post their resumes/CVs to AABHE’s Career Center to prepare for the next phase of your career in higher education.

Kim Fleming is currently serving as Learning and Development Manager responsible for the design, development and implementation of learning strategies to support key initiatives at Tulane University.  As a seasoned Human Resources Professional with more than 10 years experience in the hospitality and higher education industries, Kim has served as a strategic business partner and advisor in areas such as employee relations, succession planning, talent acquisition, compensation, and compliance.

Carla Major is presently the Assistant Vice Chancellor-HR for Delgado Community College.  She has worked in Human Resources for 25+ years in various industries from casinos to nonprofits, from education to health care and from New Orleans to Chicago.  She has been responsible for as few as twenty(20) employees to as many as twenty four hundred (2400).  Carla has also worked as an expert witness in cases regarding HR matters. Carla’s HR career has encompassed the entire scope of HR; she has been responsible for recruiting, employment, training, career development, employee relations, benefits, retirement, employee engagement and strategic planning.

 

Erin Raines joined Parker Executive Search in 2013 and plays an integral role in recruiting higher education leaders.   She focuses on research, candidate development, client and candidate logistics and is a key force in facilitating client and candidate communication.   Prior to joining the firm, Erin worked at Greenberg Traurig, LLP in Atlanta, Georgia.  Erin brings a high level of performance and enthusiastically assists in recruiting qualified candidates who make a difference on college campuses across the country.  

 

Brittney W. Richardson is currently the Director of Human Resources and former Title IX Coordinator for Dillard University, New Orleans. She has over 18 years of Human Resources and Labor Relations Experience, 15 of those years are in the Higher Education Leadership role. She is the past president and current board member of the LA/MS Gulf Coast Chapter of Colleges and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR).  Brittney was appointed by the New Orleans City Council to serve as a Civil Service Commissioner for the City of New Orleans. She was nominated by Tulane University and has been a member of the commission since October 2018.

 

Dr. Shantay Bolton is currently the Vice President and Deputy Chief Operating Officer at Tulane University, with responsibility for leading major strategic projects, providing functional direction to units reporting to the Sr. VP/COO, leading administrative policy review and development, and serving as chief advisor to the Sr. VP/COO.  Previously she also held roles as Vice President of Human Resources and Institutional Equity, Associate Vice President of Human Resources, and Assistant Vice President of HR Strategic Initiatives at Tulane, as well as Vice President of HR at Tuskegee University. Dr. Bolton has more than 17 years’ experience in human resources, implementing leadership development programs, employee engagement, talent management and strategic training projects through organizational development.
