Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi announces Dr. Julie Anne Hoff as Dean of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences (CONHS). She will assume her duties fall 2017, subject to approval by the Texas A&M System Board of Regents. Hoff most recently served as the Director of the Eleanor Mann School of Nursing at the University of Arkansas, a position she held for the past for three years.

“I am so pleased to have been selected as the next Dean of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. Together with faculty and staff, I look forward to continuing the strong nursing and health sciences legacy and will work to advance the education, service, and research missions of the College and University for the benefit of students, the State of Texas, and our global society. The welcoming faculty and administration, the interesting students I met, the innovative academic programs, and the opportunity for interprofessional collaboration are just a few of the factors that drew me to the Island University,” said Hoff.

As Dean, Hoff will supervise CONHS academic programs, faculty and student affairs. She will also continue implementing College research initiatives, as well as supporting community programs and partnerships.

“Dr. Hoff is a great addition to our Islander community. Through her leadership, the College of Nursing and Health Sciences will continue to strive for transformation in healthcare through education, research innovation, and practice,” said Dr. Kelly Quintanilla, Interim President and CEO of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

Hoff earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Rush University in Chicago. From there, she completed her a master’s degree in public health, a master’s degree in nursing, a doctorate in nursing, and a post-doctoral fellowship in bio-behavioral science – all from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Hoff spent 22 years at the University of Illinois at Chicago conducting research, mentoring many while also serving on University committees and councils. In addition to being a professor, she served as Director of Clinical Research Operations for the Center for Clinical Translational Science and Assistant Director of the Institute for Minority Health Research at the University of Illinois at Chicago and Director of Innovations and Outcomes for the Children’s Hospital Colorado. In addition, Hoff has given numerous presentations and provided her expertise to publications in prestigious academic journals.

She is innovative with a clear vision, strong in research, and has articulate plans for undergraduate/graduate programs,” said Dr. Ted Guffy, Interim Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs at A&M-Corpus Christi.
