University of Washington President Michael K. Young and Provost Ana Mari Cauce announced Monday the selection of Sean D. Sullivan as the new dean of the UW School of Pharmacy, effective Sept. 15. The appointment is subject to approval by the UW Board of Regents.

Emory & Henry College announced today that it has taken possession of the former Smyth County Community Hospital with the intention of developing a school of health sciences at the E&H campus in Marion.

David Shelledy, Ph.D., who served as founding dean of the Department of Respiratory Care from 1994 to 2004, will rejoin the UT Health Science Center San Antonio as dean of the School of Health Professions. The appointment was announced March 3 by President William L. Henrich, M.D., MACP.

Dr. Carole Kenner, a scholar and educator with an international reputation as the "mother of neonatology nursing," has been appointed The College of New Jersey's Carol Kuser Loser Dean of the School of Nursing, Health and Exercise Science.

Christy Harris Lemak, Ph.D., has been named chair of the University of Alabama at Birmingham Department of Health Services Administration. Lemak comes to UAB from the University of Michigan where she serves as director of the Griffith Leadership Center in Health Management and Policy.

Indiana State University officials have selected a veteran health care educator, researcher and administrator to serve as dean of the College of Nursing, Health, and Human Services.

J.D. Polk, D.O., M.S., M.M.M., CPE, FACOEP, has been named dean of the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Des Moines University after an extensive national search process. Dr. Polk will assume the role August 1.
