The University of South Carolina has announced that Dr. Haemoon Oh has been appointed as dean of the College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management. He will begin his position on August 1, 2015.

A native of South Korea, Dr. Oh comes to South Carolina with more than 20 years of academic and administrative experience. For the past six years, he’s served as professor and department head of the hospitality and tourism management program in the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Prior to joining UMass, he was on the faculty as a tenured associate professor of the hospitality management program at Iowa State for 12 years where he also directed graduate programs. Dr. Oh began his academic career at Penn State, where he earned his doctoral degree.

Dr. Oh brings extensive knowledge of hospitality management and hotel administration, and successful international experience and leadership skills to the college. He has written extensively on hotel and hospitality management, as well as the use of technology in the tourism industry. He has served as PI and Co-PI on several successfully funded grants. Before earning his doctoral degree from Penn State, Dr. Oh completed his master’s degree from the University of Nevada at Las Vegas, following his bachelor’s degree from Hanyang University in Seoul, Korea.
