The UAA is the premier conference in Division III when it comes to both academic and athletic excellence. The Position

The Head Football Coach is a 12-month position working in the Department of Athletics. Joining a dedicated team of coaches, this position will strive to promote student success both on and off the field. The Head Coach of Football directs all aspects of the intercollegiate football team including coaching, recruiting, scheduling, program administration and budgeting. Additional responsibilities may include performing administrative duties as assigned at the discretion of the Director of Athletics.

This position is also responsible for the administration of all phases of the program in accordance with guidelines from the University, the NCAA, UAA and CCIW.

Requirements for the Position

  • A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of football coaching experience at the collegiate and/or professional level.
  • Ability to articulate a clear vision for the program that promotes WashU, rallies support and motivates others.
  • A self-motivated, energetic and tireless worker with a contagious passion for the sport.
  • Ability to put a team together, motivate that team and manage it effectively to achieve overall success for the program.
  • Proven technical training, knowledge and experience to successfully compete at a championship level. 
  • Ability to effectively recruit, coach, teach and communicate with highly talented student-athletes.
  • Willingness and demonstrated ability to recruit qualified candidates to the University.
  • Proactive appreciation for diversity in the community and the ability to recruit, facilitate and interact effectively with a widely diverse campus.
  • Ability to operate the program with a high level of integrity, have a working knowledge of NCAA, UAA and CCIW rules, and an understanding of, and a commitment to, the NCAA philosophy of Division III athletics.
  • Willingness to serve students, neighbors, colleagues, administrators, faculty and fans in diverse and creative ways to be measured by attendance at athletic events and campus activities, visibility in the community, treating colleagues with dignity and respect, and holding one-another accountable.
  • The ability to create a safe, inclusive and diverse working environment
  • Perform activities that support the team, such as participating in campus and community outreach activities, meeting with media representatives and fundraising.
  • Administrative skills such as prioritization, organization, and budgeting.
