The University of Notre Dame invites nominations and applications for the position of the Senior Director of Graduate Business Programs.
The Senior Director of Graduate Business Programs sets strategy and oversees operations for Mendoza’s robust residential graduate business programs, including its flagship MBA program. The five programs with enrollment of nearly 500 students are the traditional two-year MBA, accelerated one-year MBA, Master of Science in Accountancy, Master of Science in Management and MBA/MSBA (Master of Science in Business Analytics) dual degree.
Reporting directly to the Dean and working closely with the Associate Dean for Graduate Programs, the Senior Director is responsible for the overall success of the department, including the following areas:
Lead Graduate Business Program team: The Senior Director leads four directors who oversee nearly 30 employees covering the functional areas of Admissions, Student Services, Career Services and Alumni Relations. Working with this team, the Senior Director develops strategy, establishes goals, oversees their implementation and manages the general operations for the Graduate Business Programs.
Grow current programs and explore options for new programs: The Senior Director will offer relevant and innovative ideas to enrich existing programs and potentially create new programs in response to the needs of an increasingly complex global business environment.
Achieve enrollment targets: The Senior Director collaborates with the College’s Marketing team to develop and implement campaigns to promote programs, attract interested individuals and generate a pool of applicants who meet the desired profile for each of the programs.
Oversee budget: The Senior Director is responsible for planning, directing and reporting budgets related to the operations of the Graduate Business Programs department.
Build relationships with stakeholders: The Senior Director serves as an ambassador of and vital mediary for Graduate Business Programs and key stakeholder groups, including alumni, advisory council members, recruiters and faculty members. Additionally, the Senior Director partners with other Mendoza leaders to ensure the Graduate Business Programs’ strategy aligns with overall College goals, and is well integrated across departments.
Curriculum: Working with the College deans, the Senior Director sets the course for innovation in curriculum to meet the challenges of today’s global marketplace while remaining committed to the Mendoza College’s foundation of business for the greater good.
It is required the successful candidate have a Master’s degree or higher, five years experience in higher education, five year’s experience directing program(s) and supervising staff, experience with significant budgetary responsibility, strong public speaking ability and extraordinary people skills and a strong ethical commitment
In addition, it is preferred the successful candidate will be a seasoned leader with significant experience in higher education and, preferably, in graduate business programs, a strong communicator who is comfortable with all levels of the organization, will collaborate with multiple business partners within the college, recruiters and external business representatives, graduate business candidates, and alumni, can navigate the challenges of organizational change and process improvement and will have a deep commitment to Notre Dame’s mission and core values.
